We’re changing for the better!

We are excited to be welcoming customers back to Jersey Crab Shack, starting with St Helier on August 10th, Gorey on August 18th and then St Brelade at a later date to be confirmed. The last four months have been tough for everyone, but particularly so for those providing frontline services and working in sectors such as hospitality, retail and events.

With the move to Level 1, when the sun is out and we walk though town or go for an evening swim on a spring tide in one of our beautiful bays, we get glimpses of what life was like before Covid and can forget our worries.

However we all know life isn’t the same and may not be for quite some time. The carefree attitude to meeting up with family and friends, taking Granny and Grandpa out for a meal, or uni students arranging a 21st birthday weekend has been replaced for some with worries about hygiene and physical distancing and for others with frustration that their lives continue to be restricted.

We’ve been working hard over the last few months to adapt to what 2020 has thrown at us and we feel we’ve got the right balance so everyone can feel safe and have a good time when they visit us. We’re changing for the better!

You’ll notice some of the changes as soon as you arrive. They are all designed to keep you safe and ensure you feel confident whether you are booking a table for a special celebration or dropping by on the spur of the moment for a quick drink and a bite to eat.  For more information on our safety measures click HERE.

On entering the restaurant, we’ll ask you to take a quick temperature check.  Just look into the screen and in few seconds you will know if you have temperature. The camera doesn’t record your visit or maintain any data or images, but it does alert our team if someone has a raised temperature. We’ll ask you discreetly to return home and seek medical advice if your temperature is above normal. All our team do the same daily as they arrive for work.

We’ll then ask your party to register for Track & Trace through our WiFi. It’s a quick 10 second process and you don’t need to continue to login to our customer WiFi unless you want to. Your name and contact details are made available for 21 days and are not accessible by us – they can only be released by our data handler following a formal request from the Government of Jersey’s Track & Trace team. On any subsequent visit to any JPRestaurants location it’s a one-click process and there’s no need to enter your details again.

After the hand sanitiser as you enter, you’ll notice some great looking new signage around the restaurant reminding everyone to respect physical distancing and helping the flow as you walk around. You may also notice all or some of our team wearing masks, depending on the infection risk level in the island.

You’ll be shown to your table, that will have been deep-cleaned before you arrive. We also clean all public touch points, such as door handles, every hour and have other changes such as kickers to open doors without touching handles and safe “Knock & Call” arrangements for visiting the loos.

You’ll be seated with a small card on your table and we’ll explain our new quick and easy way to order via web app on your phone. Just open your camera and point at the QR code and you’ll be directed to our menu where you can enter your table number, browse the menu, and order and pay for food and drinks.

This not only provides a safer way to order, minimising the risk of infection, but also means you can order and pay when you want. It also removes the need to ask for a bill at the end of the meal, and your server won’t be expecting tips. (Don’t worry, we are making sure our team are well-remunerated and incentivized). Feel free to order as much or as little as you want, whenever you want during your visit, and let us know if you have any allergies and we’ll explain our approach to keeping you safe. Your order will instantly go to the kitchen or bar and will be served as soon as it’s ready.

Our new more casual approach to our menu and service is designed to let you decide how you want to eat with us. Whether it’s a three course meal, a table full of food to share, or just a quick drink and a snack.

We’ve also introduced a Click & Collect service, so if you’d prefer to eat at home or on the beach, you can order during our kitchen opening times via an app selecting your pick-up time. This is also available at our JPRestaurants sister cafés  Café Ubé. And if you find it the changes too casual, Banjo will be opening in September.

We can’t wait to see you and share a bit of Jersey Crab Shack with you, your friends and family and to offer a warm and safe welcome to locals and visitors to the Island.

Our largest table size available is for eight people. Unfortunately we are unable to allocate more than one table per booking and will not be able to honour multiple bookings for the same party.
